Prostate artery embolization (PAE) for benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH): efficacy and safety at 1 year
Refereed conference paper presented and published in conference proceedings

摘要Objective: To evaluate the safety and efficacy of PAE for BPH at 1 year.
Patients and Methods: This is a prospective cohort study approved by the institutional review board. Men with prostates≥40 g, IPSS≥13, and Qmax<15 mL/s (or recurrent AROU) were recruited. Bilateral PAE was performed with 100-micron microspheres under local anaesthesia(LA).
Results: 90 men with mean age of 67 ( 6.3) were recruited. PAE was successful on both sides in 91.1%. 88.0% 22/25) on Foley could void (59% in 7 days, 81.8% in 14 days, 90.9% in 18 days).
Complications: Obstructive uropathy
(1.1%), transient lower limb claudication (1.1%), retention of necrotic prostate tissue (1.1%), passage of prostate tissue (3.3%), groin hematoma (2.2%), dysuria (10.0%), mild hematuria (2.2%), mild PR bleeding (3.3%), UTI (1.1%). There was no worsening of erectile or ejaculatory function in all men. 4.4% required TURP.
Conclusion: LA PAE was safe and effective at 1 year.
