摘要Purpose: This randomized controlled trial tested the effectiveness of an integrated mindfulness and problem-solving-based bibliotherapy program (MBBP) for Chinese outpatients in early psychosis.
Methods: This controlled trial used a repeated-measures, three parallel-groups design. The effects of MBBP were compared with a conventional psycho-education group and a routine psychiatric care group (controls) in 342 randomly selected patients with recent-onset psychosis. Primary outcomes included mental state and re-hospitalization rates and other secondary measures such as psychosocial functioning were measured at recruitment, one week, and 6 and 18 months following the interventions.
Results: The MBBP reported significantly greater improvements in symptom severity, functioning, insight into illness/treatment, and duration of re-hospitalizations over 18 months follow-up, when compared to the other two study groups.
Conclusion: The mindfulness-based bibliotherapy program appears to be a promising approach to self-help and insight-induced intervention for people with early psychosis in community care.
