PASS as Reading Workshops: Engaging Students in Reading and Discussing Classics

摘要Reading classics is endlessly rewarding yet extremely challenging for students who are unfamiliar with the content, language and context of these texts. This poster will present how PASS are piloted as reading workshops to tackle these challenges in our General Education Foundation Programme (GEF), a common core programme engaging students in dialogues with the classics in the humanities and sciences. Facilitated by PASS Leaders via various reading strategies, the workshops provide a supportive learning environment for students where they can read and discuss classic texts together. Feedback from the students has been positive and many find the workshops improve their understanding of classic texts and confidence in group discussion, and enable them to read the texts on their own.
