Biopatterning of Stem/Progenitor Cells in Tissue-Mimicking Micro-Scaffold

摘要The accurate positioning of live cells and biomatrices is a central tenet of tissue patterning and morphogenesis for tissue/organ repair or regeneration. Hydrogel scaffolding is commonly employed as a technique to support the synthetic structures created. Here we demonstrate a novel biopatterning technique which allows the culture of stem/progenitor cells within a three-dimensional tissue-mimicking micro-scaffold. Stem/progenitor cells can be accurately positioned within 40μm-wide micro-scaffolds and showed proliferative capabilities. Further characteristic investigations of the embedded stem/progenitor cells are expected to extend the technique to drug screening and personalized therapeutic applications.
