AbstractThis paper presents the design of a novel reconfigurable antenna with four different polarization states. By the adoption of a newly developed variable signal splitter and a dual-fed antenna, both linear (VLP and HLP) and circular (LHCP and RHCP) polarizations can be produced under the control of an external voltage. The proposed circuit is compact in size, consumes no dc power, single voltage operation and requires minimal number of tuning diodes. For experimental demonstration, the measured results of a 1.4 GHz antenna implemented on microstrip are shown.
