AbstractBased on several military books in the Ming Dynasty, an empirical research has been made to study the typical figures in military books in the Ming Dynasty. Using diachronic analysis to provide a comparative base, this paper reviews the characteristics of figures in military books in the Ming Dynasty from three different points of view. It points out that figures in military books in the Ming Dynasty present a sharply increase in proportion, bearing a remarkable continuity and emphasizing the motion of objects in the composition. In addition, the causes of the formation of the aforementioned characteristics have also been discussed.
