AbstractThis presentation discusses how an existential-narrative approach contributes substantially by rethinking the ideas of parent education and enriching parent-child relationships. The goals and principles of this approach, namely reexamining the meaning of life and parenthood, facilitating reorganization and integration of parents’ lived experience, deepening parent-child inborn connection, fostering constructive parent-child and family interactions, and enhancing mutual support and mutual learning among parents are examined. Parent education strategies, evaluation studies and the relevance of this approach to the Hong Kong socio-cultural context are also taken into account. Finally, it considers some challenges of and practical suggestions for promoting this approach in Hong Kong.
