AbstractTraditional medicine (TM) has taken care of people’s health in China for 3,000 years. With the many successes in the past of drug discovery from botanical origins, the popular use of proprietary herbal drug and with the rising popularity of health supplements, medicinal herbs should have a bright future for better and more innovative developments. The strong historical background and the rich collections of classical records on the clinical uses of herbs in Chinese medicine should adequately encourage strong commitments from both academic and industrial sectors.
