摘要This article reports the significant findings of an empirical investigation of 60 Chinese cancer patients receiving chemotherapy in Hong Kong. Taking into consideration its multi-faceted characteristics, social support was operationalized in social network analysis, subjective perception of social support and the natural helping behaviour. It was found that cancer patients trusted their spouse and their parents most: Emotional support and socially supportive activity was the most frequently received among the cancer patients in the study. The findings of this study indicates that social workers should work closely with patients’ significant others, especially patients’ parents and spouse. © 1993 Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.
