AbstractThe title complex contains five crystallographically independent cadmium(II) atoms in four different coordination environments, namely tetrahedral, distorted trigonal bipyramidal, octahedral and an irregular seven-coordinate geometry. The crystal structure exhibits a polymeric knotted double-chain comprising an alternate arrangement of 18- and 28-membered metallacyclic rings, with discrete [CdI4]2- anions packed inside channels in the intervening space.
