AbstractIn this paper, the wind resistance of a traditional Chinese temple is investigated using numerical and experimental methods. Numerical simulation has been carried out using FLUENT. The k-ε model and two-layer wall function are used in computation. Experiments are performed in a boundary layer wind tunnel. The numerical predictions are compared with the experimental measurements for the pressure distribution on the temple surfaces. The numerical simulation shows that the absolute values of negative pressures on the roof reach the maximum along the drooping ridges, and that the owl tails at the top of roof can share the negative pressure on the roof.
