AbstractA method of fast switching between single and dual-wavelength operations of a self-seeded Fabry-Perot laser diode is presented. The time required to achieve stable operation is determined to be about five to six round-trips and the evolution for dual-mode formulation is slightly lower than that of single-mode owing to a lower mode feedback power.
