AbstractHigh-purity gold nanoplates are produced by combining seed-mediated growth, atom migration, overgrowth, and anisotropic oxidation. The synthetic control of the thickness as well as the lateral size is realized. The plasmon resonance of the gold nanoplates can be adjusted from the near-infrared to the visible region. These gold nanoplates will open a new horizon for various plasmon-based applications.
