AbstractA 'quality assurance' process enables health care providers and receivers to be assured that delivery of care is appropriate, of a high standard and incorporates fiscal considerations. Many components contribute to this process but the initial emphasis should be robust data collection, validation and appropriate analysis. The implementation of such a process is particularly relevant to the surgical specialties in Asia. © 2006 The Authors; Journal compilation © 2006 College of Surgeons of Hong Kong.
