Bismuth Oxybromide-based Photocatalysts: Syntheses, Characterizations and Applications

摘要As an important V-VI-VII ternary semiconductor, bismuth oxybromide (BiOBr) has been recently received considerable attention owing to its fascinating physicochemical prosperities originated from its unique layered structures. However, existing reports on the photocatalytic bacterial inactivation of BiOBr based photocatalysts are rather limited. Moreover, the exploitation of facile ways to make BiOBr photocatalysts harvesting a wide range of solar spectrum with high efficiency remains challenging, yet highly desirable.
Firstly, BiOBr 2D nanosheets with a high percentage of exposed {001} and {010} facets were synthesized. The facet-dependent visible-light-driven (VLD) photocatalytic bacterial inactivation activities and corresponding mechanisms of BiOBr nanosheets were investigated [1]. Secondly, boron atoms have been successfully doped into BiOBr crystals. The photocatalytic bacterial inactivation activities under fluorescent tubes irradiation of BiOBr before and after doping were compared. The destruction process of bacterial cells and superior inactivation mechanisms were systematically investigated [2]. Finally, a simple alkali post-treatment approach was applied to obtain BiOBr nanosheets with brown color. Bi2O4 nanoparticles were in situ formed due to a combined action of NaOH-induced dehalogenation and light triggered photoexcited hole oxidation processes on the surface of BiOBr nanosheets. The brown BiOBr showed exceptional enhancement in photocatalytic dye degradation, microbial disinfection and CO2 reduction. The photocatalytic enhancement mechanism was explored accordingly [3].
