Origin-Destination
(OD) matrix shows fundamental use in urban planning, social study and
Intelligent Transport System (ITS). Therefore, obtaining an OD matrix in a
reliable way is very important. Additionally, such way should be also
economical, convenient and operable in different area. However, traditional
survey wouldn't be able to simultaneously fulfill all that demands. Recently,
with the development of communications technology and storage technology, data
containing geo and time information can be widely stored at low even free price
and that make achieving high quality OD matrix a possible mission. So we
propose a novel method to estimate the OD matrix in urban area, which is
characterized as vast broad "sensor", high dense people and daily
traffic congestion, via multi-source social data. Shanghai is used as a case
study. Taxi GPS data, smart card data and Weibo data with location is used as
data source in this research. To fusion data with different scale and form, a
normalized grid is introduced to connect whole dataset, and illustrate the OD
matrix finally. The result of this estimation may reveal the difference between
heterogeneous data and show a more reliable OD matrix.
