Abstract

Trabecular
bone score (TBS) is a relatively new indicator of skeletal fragility. Its
clinical application in older Chinese people is yet to be validated. 4000 older
Chinese people in Hong Kong were followed up for incident major osteoporotic
fractures (MOF). Lower tertiles of
TBS were associated with higher risk of MOF in each osteoporosis category. The
predictive power of osteoporosis
categories for MOF was significantly increased by TBS thresholds determined by
a reported meta analysis, and by tertile and
CART analysis in our older men, but not in older women.
