AbstractTo the Editor: Rajab and colleagues (Oct. 24 issue)(1) clearly describe the process of temporary pelvic stabilization after trauma, but the video shows the clinician applying what appears to be clinically significant force to assess pelvic stability before application of the pelvic binder. The value of pelvic examination was shown to be minimal many years ago,(2) and this was confirmed more recently in the review by Lee and Porter.(3) I am concerned that pelvic examination such as that shown in the video is likely to cause more bleeding and provide no additional clinical information that will alter immediate management.
