摘要The effects of green tea and its extracts on the lowering of the cholesterol level, prevention of cancer and some other physiological support have been widely studied and found evident. However, its effects on infections are less known and less studied. This chapter reviews the antimicrobial effects of green tea: from its direct in vitro suppressive influence on microbacteria and viruses to its in vivo indirect modulating interference with the immunological responses of the human body, in either an upgrading or down-regulatory direction.
