Apoptosis of pancreatic adenocarcinoma cells induced by LED-activated pheophorbide a

摘要Apoptosis is an important form of cell death. The present study investigated apoptotic cell death of pancreatic adenocarcinoma cells treated by LED-activated pheophorbide a (Pa) using nuclear staining and flow cytometric analysis with Annexin V/PI staining 8 h after LED-activated Pa. We further investigated the changes of mitochondrial membrane potential 3 h after LED-activated Pa. The results showed that apoptosis significantly occurred and mitochondrial membrane potential markedly decreased in pancreatic adenocarcinoma cells after LED-activated Pa. Our data demonstrated that LED-activated Pa could remarkably induce apoptosis of pancreatic adenocarcinoma cells, and the collapse of mitochondrial membrane potential might be an important event in the apoptosis of pancreatic adenocarcinoma cells after LED-activated Pa.
