Efficient and Low Complexity Phase Tracking Method for MB-OFDM UWB Receiver

摘要OFDM-based systems are sensitive to phase distortion. Although the carrier frequency offset (CFO) can be coarsely corrected in time domain, the residual CFO, the sampling frequency offset and other phase noises will still lead to system performance degradation. Therefore, using fine phase tracking in frequency domain is necessary to guarantee the receiver performance. In this paper, an efficient and low complexity phase tracking algorithm applied to MB-OFDM UWB systems is proposed with detailed discussion on its ASIC implementation results. Compared with the conventional methods, the proposed scheme not only has highly simplified hardware structure, but also has lower bit error rate and lower error vector magnitude. The proposed phase tracking design is synthesized in UMC 0.13-mu m technology with the area of 0.33 mm(2) and the power consumption of 4.9 mW at 132 MHz frequency.
