AbstractIn this paper, we present a multi-focus compressive sensing (CS) method for 3-D and random-access two-photon excitation (TPE) microscopy based on a digital micromirror device (DMD). Through CS, the imaging speed of the DMD-based TPE microscope has been improved by a factor of 4 without sacrificing the resolution. Simulation and imaging experiments have been performed to verify the predicted performance enhancement and to identify the optimal processing parameters of the system, including number of laser foci and sampling rate.
