AbstractThis paper demonstrates that quad-IFA MIMO antennas for a compact wireless terminal can be effectively decoupled using the self-curing decoupling technique by only adding a lumped capacitor at an acupoint near the shorting arm of each IFA antenna. A typical MIMO antenna scenario is studied with two IFAs on the top edge while the other two on the bottom edge of the grounded PCB board. The PCB size imitates a typical mobile phone and the four IFAs work at band of 2.4-2.5 GHz. The measured results show that the six possible mutual coupling among the four IFAs can all be effectively reduced simultaneously by using the self-curing decoupling technique.
