Research Interest
XU, Jiang is an established scholar, and has extensive research experience in Chinese mainland. She has a good experience in managing and conducting projects on urban development and planning in China. She has published in top international journals such as Urban Studies, International Journal of Urban and Regional Research, The China Quarterly, Environment and Planning A, Environment and Planning C, Urban Geography, and Town Planning Review. She is the coauthor of the award-winning book Urban Development in Post-Reform China: State, Market Space (2007, Routledge), and the first editor of a volume Governance and Planning of Mega-City Regions: An International Comparative Perspective (2011, Routledge). She specializes in planning and government studies of China. As a former practitioner in international consultation firm working in China and Canada, Professor at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, former President of Hong Kong Geographical Association, a policy advisor to mainland governments, and a person who originally comes from China’s Southwest, she has excellent contacts in China and is very familiar with the research climate and milieu for doing work there.
